Montreux is a popular town of 23'000 inhabitants, dedicated to tourism, on the shore of Lake Geneva.
Its prestigious music history starts in 1946 with the instauration of the traditional yearly event of classical music “Septembre Musical”. Thanks to visionary people like Raymond Jaussi, director of the tourist board in Montreux and Claude Nobs for the notoriety they have been giving to Montreux around the whole world for over 40 years ! The Montreux Jazz Festival starts in 1967 and almost simultaneously, in 1969, the “Montreux Super Pop” Festival welcomes for the first time the best rock bands from all over the world, such as The Rolling Stones, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin or Santana, Yes, Pink Floyd bringing in town a horde of fans and hippies. The “Golden Rose”, in the ‘70s, attracts many other great artists such as Queen, Doors, Fats Domino, Roxy Music, Manhattan Transfer, Gary Wright and many more. Having noticed a very strong interest from all visitors coming to Montreux for it's musical past history, but knowing that there is no place in town to give any significant information about it, we decided to dedicate our enthusiasm in developing this website. The Montreux musical history is very rich, and we invite you to discover it partially on this website.
