ImageFifteen days of music in the brand new Casino concert hall. From July 3 to 20 with Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald, Oscar Peterson, Count Basie, Charlie Mingus, Archie Shepp, second visit to Montreux for  Rashaan Roland Kirk, Bill Evans, Clarke Terry, Joe Pass, Milt Jackson and a blues evening July 12 with Albert King, Lowell Fulsom, Albert King or Clifton Chenier and his accordion, Juke Boy Bonner and Louisiana Red perform alone on stage with their guitars or Etta James with guest musicians Klaus Doldinger on saxophones and John Paul Jones on bass (Led Zeppelin). Pop music is represented by Rory Gallagher and his three musicians. Rory played twice in this Montreux town with his Rock band Taste. A progressive Italian Rock band was discovered July 7,  by name P.F.M. influenced by Emerson Lake & Palmer or King Crimson. Christian Vander drummer and leader of French band Magma has called Didier Lockwood (violin) and introduced a new band. A remarkable aspect of Magma’s music is that Vander actually invented a constructed language, Kobaïan, with germanic and slovakian consonance in which most lyrics are sung. Different musical style with Alan Stivell and his celtic harp, master guitarists Larry Coryell and Steve Kahn and Billy Cobham, performing last year, brings on stage a new band including John Scofield on guitars. We cannot end this chapter without mentioning the Belgian guitar player Philip Catherine who offered an amazing musical performance as only accompaniment his guitar and a electronic rhythm box.
