And two wonderful pop concerts take place in 1973 and 1974.
Status Quo is an English Rock band whose music is characterised by a strong Boogie line. It has recorded over 60 chart hits in the UK— more than any other Rock group in history. Quo's more popular songs from this era include Paper Plane in 1972, Caroline in 1973, which is also what it plays at the convention centre.
Alvin Lee begins playing guitar at the age of thirteen, and with Leo Lyons forms the core of the band Ten Years After in 1960. But by 1973, Alvin Lee is feeling limited by the band's style. With American Gospel singer Mylon LeFevre and a host of Rock talents like George Harrison, Steve Winwood, Ron Wood, Jim Capaldi and Mick Fleetwood, he records and releases On the Road to Freedom, a highly acclaimed album that is at the forefront of country Rock. Alvin Lee, December 1st, 1974, at the convention centre in Montreux, is a gig not to be missed.
