Tibor, the singer from the wonderful Hungarian group `
Queen Unplugged Project` has decided to cycle to the
Freddie Mercury’s Montreux Memorial Day this year. You can follow his journey on the following
link and we have had some t-shirts made to commemorate the occasion. Make sure you are in the Market Square to give him a warm welcome on the Friday evening September 3rd at around 8 pm!
Lucie Halamikova, from Czech Republic, whom many of you will have seen on ‘youtube’ will be performing her arrangements of some great QUEEN songs on Sunday
September 5th, by the statue. She has also composed her own tribute to Freddie, which she will also sing during her performance!
Well, we have only admiration for the organisation of the official opening of the
Queen Exhibition at Knebworth House. The setting within the ancient building made you appreciate the presentation more. The weather was perfect for the picnic in the Park, and the impromptu concert by Jeff Scott Soto, Spike and Jamie Moses, singing under a tree rounded off a very happy day. It was so good meeting up with old friends in such a different environment!
Link...Freddie gets a ‘facelift’! After 14 years overlooking the lake and mountains, the Municipality of Montreux agreed with us it was time Freddie was cleaned. A team of professional restorers spent the whole day with their brushes and potions to bring back the original gleam to the statue! We are sure there was a tiny smile on his face when they were finished!
